I have a dual purpose for this. One is to help myself, and the other is to help others in my scenario. My wife is a cross stitch addict, and has been doing it basically her entire life along with her mother, but they’ve always been focused on kits and never really thought outside of the box. I would like to stir some creativity in to them (and perhaps delve in to it myself) by having the ability to create their own.

After lots of researching I compiled this very basic list of programs. I am looking to you to seek your opinions on what the best program is. I have tried the Photoshop method, and while it is very nice, I’m also looking for something a little bit more user friendly.

I have heard good things about KGChart, PCStitch, and WinStitch, but I haven’t heard anything about Pattern Maker or STOIK’s Stitch Creator. I’m assuming the latter aren’t heard much of as they’re more pricey, but are they worth it? Out of the three former, which do people like to use? Why do you like to use that specific program?

Which program is herald as the best to use? Convince me to buy one of these!

Thanks in advanced, and I hope this helps others as well.
