A good Introduction to TCP/IP internet. It's easy to read and understand, and covers many interesting topics.

As known to anyone involved with networking, TCP/IP networking is a mash-up of compromise, convention, and afterthought all intertwined in a seemingly chaotic, yet functional suite of protocols.
In such environment, what Comer does the best is ordering of topics so that each chapter patiently builds upon previous chapters, never leading reader to uncharted territory. A detailed look at the transport of the Internet. As one who spent days configuring an NT server into a multihomed host using subnetting, a lot of the information is already known, but would be a good introduction for a technical minded person who can resist the urge to sleep. Starts out with obligatory origins of the net, thru dotted decimal notation, etc. Lots of good info on IP, routing, accessories like FTP and Telnet, and the section on IPng was very interesting. THE book on TCP/IP - combine with Wireshark to become a badass.
This is a classic!
