What is an Invoice?
The purpose of a business invoice is to present details of an ongoing transaction between a buyer and a seller. This is something that must be sent by the seller as it acts as a bill for the goods and/or services that have been provided. What that means is that the document is used to state the payment terms. So before a transaction can be concluded, the seller should be able to prepare and send a detailed invoice in a timely manner.
How to Create an Invoice in Apple Numbers
1. Begin By Providing the Business Information
An electronic or printed invoice must contain information on the business responsible for sending it. Make sure to put in the business name, address and contact details. Having it provides the client with the means of getting in touch in the event that there are any issues regarding the transaction details. Also, consider including the business logo as doing so will help spread the brand.
2. Put in Information on the Client
Whether you are sending it to an individual or a client, you have to provide the client's basic information. You may also create a separate client information sheet for this. Doing so ensures that you are sending the invoice to whom it's meant for. Be sure to put in the client's complete name, living and/or shipping address, and contact details.

3. Provide the Issued Date, Due Date and Invoice Number
Even a simple invoice requires that you provide all three pieces of information. Their purpose is to help you keep track of a particular client transaction, as well as remind you when payment must be made. Be sure that there are no two invoice documents with the same invoice numbers as they all must be unique. As for the date, just make sure to include the month, day, and year for both the issued and due date.
4. Place the Item Details
A sales or commercial invoice, or pretty much any invoice for that matter, would have the full legal description of all the goods and/or services that have been provided by the seller to the buyer. Other details such as the quantity that they were provided in, the item number, the unit price and the total amount of each item must be included in the invoice document.

Next is to point out all the details which concern payment. What you'll need to do first is to calculate the subtotal and place that into the invoice document. Then you'll want to take the subtotal and then make another calculation where you include the taxes, discounts or fees that will help you get the grand total that needs to be paid. After that, point out the method or methods of payment and payment schedule that the buyer is allowed to use and follow. Know that the more options you provide, the better the chance of being paid on time. And lastly, provide the name, address and any other necessary information on who the payment should be made to.
